Whalers Realty Inc. – Company History
This year marks Whalers Realty Inc.’s 33rd year of continuous business on Maui. Since 1976, Whalers Realty has been one of Maui’s leading brokerage firms. In 1976, Robert J. “Bob” Cartwright earned his real estate salesperson license, joined Whalers Realty in 1982, and then acquired his Brokers license the following year. Bob quickly became the company’s top-producing agent, eventually becoming its Broker in Charge. Along with his wife, Tess, they purchased the company in December 1993 and under their direction, the company doubled in size. The company currently consists of a staff of thirty-two real estate sales and broker associates and six full-time salaried support staff. The support positions include an Administrative Manager, Listing Manager, Marketing Manager, Escrow Manager, Executive Assistant, and General Sales Manager.
Whalers Realty maintains three sales office locations on Maui. These offices are beneficial in promoting the sale of new developments for they are located in peak traffic areas such as Whalers Village, The Fairway Shops at Kaanapali, and Kaanapali Shores, all of which attract a high-caliber clientele. Tess Cartwright is Broker in Charge for the vacation rental arm of Whalers Realty Inc., Whalers Realty Management Company Inc. The Fairway Shops location includes Whalers Realty Inc. Sales Professionals and The Whalers Realty Management Company. Whalers Realty also maintains an informational sales center at Lanikeha, an upscale subdivision of custom home sites located in Kaanapali Golf Estates.
Our longstanding sales success on Maui can be attributed to our experience and knowledge of the Maui market combined with a commitment to business principles founded on personal integrity. In 2007, Whalers Realty closed 159 transactions for a total sales volume of over $203,000,000. In 2008, Whalers Realty closed 317 transactions for a total sales volume of over $235,000,000.
