Friends of Haleakala National Park Service Trip

For those of you who are enthusiastic hikers and love the natural wonder that is Haleakala National Park, consider participating in a service trip. The Friends of Haleakala National Park non-profit organisation is hosting one between the 6th and the 8th of December. This will be a volunteer event where participants backpack into the crater and stay free for two nights in the Kapalaoa cabin to help with tasks such as cabin maintenance and planting native or removing invasive plants. An interpretive park ranger will accompany you on your trip.
For detailed information about signing up for a service trip, click here or call 876-1673. If you choose to attend, you will need to be able to hike in and out of the crater, as well as bring a sleeping bag and a share of the group's food.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the health of the park and have a great time as well. Haleakala's majesty has inspired lore and legend, such as the story that the demigod Maui lassoed the very sun from its heights. It has always been a magnificent source of inspiration to those who appreciate the beauty of nature. How long has it been since you enjoyed the view from the 10,000 foot summit of the mountain? Haleakala's ecosystem is unique and it is home to a number of endangered species. Consider, also, that on a trip like this, there is a good chance you'll meet like minded people that share some of your own values. You never know, you might make a friend for life on a trip like this.
If you are fond of the mountain, then we can also help you find any number of great properties that are available on its slopes. Explore our listings on Kula, Ulupalakua and Kanaio if you prefer typically drier weather or browse the section on Olinda, Makawao and Haili'imaile if you enjoy misty rainfall. Every part of Maui has a totally unique flavor, so whatever your choice, we are happy to help. As much as we love upcoutry, however, we are West Maui real estate specialists. We have a number of favorite condo developments in that area, such as the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach, the Kaanapali Alii and the Mahana on Kaanapali Beach.
Thanks for reading this week, and please e-mail us at info@whalersrealty.com or call 661-7887 if you need any help navigating the myriad of choices that you will find in Maui real estate. Mahalo!
