Maui Class on Protecting Your Work

It is written in the U.S. Constitution that authors and inventors have an exclusive right to benefit from their creative work. Maui is a small island, and may seem like a safe haven from theft of ideas, but the reverse is true. With such a high saturation of creative people who have not been educated on using the laws that exist to protect them, our island is in special need of schooling in this regard.
Are you a writer? Have you created an original product? Do you know anyone who's ideas have been stolen out from under them? Maui County is providing a free class at the Maui County Business Resource Center located in the Maui Mall across from IHOP. The purpose of this class is to teach you to establish and protect patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets.
This class is called "Protecting Ideas and Avoiding Infringement: The Essentials of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets." It will take place on Wednesday, May 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Whether you are a songwriter, inventor, artist, entrepreneur, author, or anyone interested in protecting intellectual property and you don't yet feel that you have the knowledge to do so, you are strongly encouraged to attend. Every creation began with an idea, and this is how we've shaped the world. Protect yours and don't be too trusting.
Shannon S Imlay will be presenting this class and is an intellectual property attorney registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. You should be hard pressed to ask a question that Shannon cannot answer on this matter. Check the Maui County Website for additional details.
