Tips for Your Maui Move

You've done the big move between faraway places or at least somewhere nearby. Some of you have even moved overseas in the past. It's challenging and can be exhausting work. With that in mind, we've provided you with a few handy reminders to make the process much easier, specifically dealing with supplies.

Boxes, obviously are the first on the supply list in the minds of most people who are getting ready for a move, but don't neglect the trash bag! A supply of good, sturdy trash bags can be a great way to move unbreakable things like clothes or many items that won't fit easily into a box. You can even label them with stickers or by tying on a tag or color-coded ribbon to keep you organized.

Tape, tape, and more tape. Why such emphasis on tape? Well it's a pain to run out! Get the good stuff, durable packing tape. If your boxes open up and they're being shipped, you will probably lose most of their contents. Along with the tape, you shouldn't forget scissors. There are numerous purposes for this obvious little tool.

Markers! Labeling boxes seems like a no-brainer, but sometimes we get lazy or just forget. This is something we almost always regret later. You may think you can remember what is in which box, but if you need to ship your things from the mainland to Maui, the process can take months. It won't exactly be fresh in your mind.

Newspaper! Because you shouldn't pay a lot of money for "packing paper" when you can use a similar material that is free. It's a good idea to store your newspapers ahead of time for the purpose.

A dumpster is also hugely important for your move. You probably want to trim down your belongings as much as possible and it can be truly shocking to assess the bulk of stuff that accumulates through the years. There will be a large volume of things you will need to dispose of. In all likelihood, you will pass your quota on what the city will take from your curb.

A dolly is also nice. Back injuries due to moving heavy things while relocating are countless. These injuries can take years to recover from, if you recover at all!
