Ukulele Festival at Maui Arts & Cultural Center
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) in Kahului is presenting the 4th annual ukulele festival on October 18th! This is a great chance to kick back and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of food, fun, and most importantly, the culture of Hawaiian music.
The fest starts at 2p.m. on the 18th in the Events Lawn of the MACC. Admission is free, so pull up some lawn chairs and listen to the sounds of some great musicians. Some of the island's favorite ukulele players will perform at this event.
The performance line-up includes both local kupuna and keiki players. Roy Sakuma, who is a well known ukuele advocate and teacher will be the master of ceremonies. He can also take credit for bringing the ukulele festivals to the other islands as well. The county has been inspired enough by this festival to deem it the start of ukulele week on Maui.
Some of the festival fun will include door prizes throughout the afternoon, which will include a dozen finely crafted ukulele. A Maui festival isn't a Maui festival without ono food and drink, so of course there will be plenty of that.
This is a family friendly event that is open to everyone. The gates will be open at 1:30p.m. if you want to get a nice spot on the lawn early.
