Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational

The Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational is slated to begin on February 13! This is where some of the finest plein air artists from Maui and the mainland get together to render some of Maui's most beautiful scenery into breathtaking works of art.

The 26 artists scheduled to participate will spend about a week taking advantage of the event's select locations for outdoor painting, including Maui's upcountry vistas, majestic mountains, pristine beaches, historic towns and majestic mountains.

The best part is that the public is invited to watch these masterful artists work! Both visitors to Maui as well as residents can drop by wherever the day's scheduled location is. You can check on those at www.mauipleinairpainting.com.

If you do show up to observe, you may learn a lot about outdoor painting as well as art activities in the community. Part of the event includes workshops taught by two renowned artists, Ned Mueller and Clark Mitchell. Mueller's workshop is scheduled for February 9-11 and Mitchells is February 22-24.

Previous plein air painting invitationals have been well worth a visit on each and every day that the artists were working to capture Maui's exceptional scenery. Each artist brings their own unique style so that a variety of "flavors" are represented. The only real challenge is to pick your favorite. Then again, you may find that one artist absolutely blows you away. That being the case, you should definitely let them know! There is usually a special satisfaction for an artist that knows their work has reached you in some way.
