Maui Economic Development Board Fundraiser
The Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB), Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide leadership and vision for a stronger, more sustainable and diverse economy in the Maui community.
On Saturday, August 28th, the MEDB will be hosting a special fundraiser dinner named, "A Pathway to Our Future," which will benefit the MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund. This fund began in 2006 and since then, over $620,000 has been raised for educators, students, parent groups and community organizations to broaden career pathways for Maui County residents. Over 6,800 students and teachers have benefited from these efforts so far. The aid of this fund involves a grant program, and also supports internships, apprenticeships, progessional development and more.
Many factors make the Maui economy unique. We are on a beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific. Maui's isolation has led to the development of a precious culture and natural environment that gives it a flavor all its own. The MEDB has facilitated a wealth of creative ideas for ways to strengthen the success of Maui residents by navigating around economic constraints to develop our opportunities and tap into our advantages.
The fundraiser will be held at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa. U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye and his wife, Ms. Irene Hirano will be in attendance, as will Mayor Charmaine Tavares. There will be a reception at 5pm and a dinner at 6:30pm. If you would like to attend so that you too can assist in stimulating Maui's economic community, tickets are $150 per person. Sponsorships are available as well.
To arrange reservations or if you need more information, you can contact the MEDB at 808-875-2300, or visit www.medb.org.
